New iPhone or not new iPhone
Gadget, Geekstuff July 10th, 2008That is the question. I’m a gadget freak. I love gadgets! Phones, gps, cameras, basically anything shiny with buttons that does something! Basically, the new iPhone adds two features. 3g wireless, and the GPS. I’ve never been particularly unhappy with my Edge wireless on my iPhone 1.0. I guess its just been far better than any other mobile phone as far as surfing the web. I can get the OS on the existing iPhone too (Which I’ll be doing as soon as I get home). But can I justify spending $200-300 on the upgraded new shiny iPhone? I don’t know.
Chances are, I wont know until tomorrow morning when I wake up like the rest of the mactards and file my butt down to the Apple store to nerd out with the gadget geeks. I suppose I’ll let you know tomorrow!
(I should have played with Melonie’s Touch phone yesterday, that’s a pretty cool gadget too)

Dude, the phone will bring your coolness factor up a notch and for that reason alone it’s a good investment (LOL). If it weren’t for the fact that the Touch has a full browser I would have already returned it for another Q due to the trade off I’m making on losing the keyboard to the touch screen. I think this is the case with the iPhone as well but you relearn the way you input text over time. A few issues with the iPhone that affected my decision toward the Touch, it’s not completely Microsoft network compatible and not compatible with all media formats due Apple’s snobbery for it’s OWN formats and apps. If you want to be a self proclaimed tech geek you need a hot phone, it’s like an athlete wearing the right shoes. Go for it!

So, yeah. My time is worth too much to stand in line. ATT said I could come in later today and order one and it will show up whenever. I’ll be out of town when it arrives, but who needs to look at an iPhone when they are riding their motorcycle anyway?
